Pandemics

The current high pandemic risk is driven by several concurrent infectious disease challenges. The Cyclospora outbreak has expanded to nine states, affecting thousands and highlighting vulnerabilities in food safety and public health response. Additionally, the ongoing Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo continues to surge, posing significant regional and global health threats. Avian flu cases in poultry and wild birds further complicate the situation, as they present potential zoonotic risks. These issues are compounded by gaps in surveillance and public health infrastructure, as well as the spread of misinformation, which can undermine effective disease control measures.
